SOLO (Save Our Living Organs)

About SOLO

S.O.L.O. was founded in 1999 when it was discovered there was no local support for Kidney patients in Thanet. A group was formed to meet this need and full charity status was granted in August 2000, after a number of successful fund raising events had been held throughout the preceding year. We successfuly received awards from the National Lottery & Lloyds TSB Foundation.

We Listen to YOU
S.O.L.O. is a group of like-minded people who have some experience of Kidney conditions either as patients, relatives or carers.

We recognise it can sometimes be more reassuring talking to a fellow suffer than it is to a professional healthcare provider.

We understand too, that family and friends will have to cope with the challenges of YOUR changing medical and lifestyle commitments.

We also know of the difficulty understanding some information and advice you receive - perhaps news you wern't expecting to hear.
Hospital travel and visits often take up lots of time and energy.

Whatever it is, S.O.L.O. is here for YOU
Please phone, fax or e-mail us, leaving a contact number or address and we will reply.

S.O.L.O's commitment to YOU will be based on:

  • Expanding and enhancing our membership and activities, using our successful National Lottery Awards together with Local Government and Business Community Funding.
  • To provide more community-based fund raising events and literature.
  • Raising Renal Awareness
  • Contribute funds towards the renal Counselling Service at the Q.E.Q.M.H because we understand the feelings you experience when diagnosed with a serious medical condition.
  • We will support the benefits of Complementary and Holistic healthcare offered by volunteers in the Thanet and Kent community.
