Construction
Hull Deck and Superstructure manufactured from hand laid Fibre re-forced plastic (FRP) with a white gel coat finish. This craft features a lower and upper helm position. The under water profile is that of a round bilge displacement type with a centre line keel.
Machinery
Power is provided by twin Perkins 6354 6 cylinder turbo charged diesel engines rated at 145hp fitted with Borg Warner Gearboxes driving conventional shafts fitted with 3 bladed propellers. Estimated cruising speed is approx 12 knots at 1,800 RPM with a consumption IOR 3 gph per Engine. The engines are fresh water cooled via a heat exchangers. Engines controls are a Morse twin single lever controls to both lower and upper helm position with full engine instrumentation fitted at the lower helm, these include: Tachometers, Engine Oil Pressure, Temp, gearbox oil pressure, Volts, and Turbo pressure.
Electrical
This craft is fitted with 12/24 volt DC and 220/240 volt AC systems.
The battery systems are charged from the Engine alternators whilst running.
Distribution is a master switch panel with circuit breakers. On the 220/240 volt shore power circuit is an inline battery charger.

Accommodation
Offering 7 berths in three cabins including the saloon comprising owners cabin aft with double berth plus single berth this cabin is also fitted with en-suite facilities with sea toilet and H&C washing facilities. Twin guest cabin forward, and double berth in the saloon . The spacious saloon provides seating for 7 on an L shaped settee with an off centre drop leaf table.
The galley forward is functional and comprises of a 2 burner cooker with oven and grill, Refrigerator, S/s Basin with H&C
water supply. Forward of the galley is the second heads compartment again with sea toilet and H&C washing facilities.
Access to the saloon is via Port and Starboard sliding doors
with a further access to and from the upper fly deck aft of the saloon.
Linings, Joinery, and upholstery are in good condition throughout, with the head linings in first class condition.
Comments
The Broom Continental is a very capable family orientated cruiser, with cross channel capabilities.
Hornbeam in her own right has made many crossings to France, Belgium, and Holland in her time. And cruised extensively in the Dutch Waterways.
