Construction

Built using hand laid GRP with a Gelcoat finish. The underwater long keel profile also incorporates the skeg hung rudder. The design inspired by classic North Sea Double Enders
Rubbing strakes bulwarks, capping rails and all carpentry is of teak, and all windows are in BS kite marked toughened glass to the wheelhouse. The high self draining side decks offer safe and protected access forward of the wheelhouse whilst the aft open cockpit is deep giving protection from a following sea. The long keel is encapsulated and extends over the full waterline length with the rudder mounted on a skeg extension.
The heavy construction adds to the crafts 11.7 tons (25,760lb) displacement weight of which 4.8 tons (10,640lb) is Ballast.

Machinery:
Mechanical power is provided by a 4 cylinder naturally aspirated Thorneycroft inboard diesel engine rated at 60hp. This engine is fresh water cooled via a heat exchanger also giving hot domestic water through a calorifier..
At 2000 rpm it is reported by Yachting Monthly that the Fisher 34 will Motor sail at 7 knots.
Fuel capacity: Approx 40 gallon.

Electrics:
Electrical supply is by 3 x 12 volt batteries charged from the engine alternator. There is also
a 220vlt shore power supply fitted with in line battery charger.

Mast Spars and Rigging
Main and Mizzen Mast in Gold anodised aluminium with stainless steel standing rigging. The craft also benefits from a new Furlex Roller reefing to the headsail. All standing rigging appears in good condition and we understand the shrouds were replaced in 2001. Slab Mainsail Sail Reefing.

Accommodation:
The Fisher 34 offers four berths in two dedicated sleeping cabins and an occasional further two berths in the saloon. The heads compartment is located between the forward cabin and saloon and is equipped with a new Jabsco sea toilet fitted 2006, basin with H/C water and shower. Opposite to starboard is a large wardrobe locker.
The saloon offers a straight settee to starboard with a centrally mounted drop leaf table with a large ‘L’ settee to port and gives comfortable seating for 6. The galley at the aft end of the saloon to port offers a 2 burner cooker with oven and grill, basin with oven and grill and ample stowage for provisions. To starboard is the entrance to the Double cabin which runs under the wheel house
Within the accommodation all joinery is in teak and is of and in very good condition throughout,
Again upholstery is original and in excellent condition as are the headlinings.
The wheel house is a spacious above deck area with the helm and chart table to port, with a bench seat to starboard this is a very light and airy space with opening windows and sliding roof hatch. Stowage in all areas is excellent for personal items,
The accommodation area is serviced by a diesel powered warm air system, Great for autumn /winter cruising or those cooler summer evenings.

Comments

Fishers sail surprisingly well although to get the best performance you do require a bit of a blow, there sea keeping capabilities are incredible and due this you will find Fishers all over the world and most of them probably sailed to these destinations. With an active association Fisher owners tend to maintain there craft well to keep up appearances and resale values. Although not manufactured as a production boat any longer Northshore Yachts will build you one as a special order. As you would expect from a craft of this build quality they are snapped up pretty quickly when available,
