Construction:
Hull deck and superstructure moulded in hand laid GRP using polyester resins with a white gelcoat finish.
The cast iron deep fin keel is through bolted with a mastic type sealing gasket at the joint. Steering is via a tiller with an Elliptic semi balanced hung rudder. To balance the craft the keel is mounted more forward than cruising boats with the engine mounted above the keel. The was re seated in 2000 where an inspection of the keel bolts was carried out and all deemed O.K. Wintered ashore and now re-launched with new antifoul anodes etc.
Engine:
Auxiliary power is provided by a Yanmar 2GM 20 naturally aspirated raw water cooled electric start inboard diesel engine rated @ 18hp driving a standard shaft with a two bladed propeller.

Mast Boom & spinnaker pole of silver anodised aluminium with double spreaders in a ¾ fractional
Rig sloop format with stainless steel standing rigging with running check stays and adjustable back stay. This craft is also fitted with a roller reefing system to the head sail. The mast on this craft is keel stepped.

Although mainly cruised now ‘Highlander’ in her own right can still be a very competitive
