The bilge keels are though bolted to hull with stainless steel studs and large double retaining nuts. The craft is tiller steered with a skeg hung rudder. The hull was osmosis treated in 2001 and was last surveyed in 2004. Displacement Weight: 5000lbs Ballast Weight: 2180lbs Machinery Auxiliary power is provided by a Volvo Penta MD2 B naturally aspirated twin cylinder raw water cooled inboard diesel engine rated @23hp driving a conventional S/s shaft with a 3 bladed propeller. The craft carries 5 gallons of fuel in a stainless steel tank. Electrical The craft is fitted with a 12 volt system consisting of 2 x 12 volt batteries charged from the engine alternator. Distribution of power is via a multi position Master switch with secondary distribution through a 6 gang fused switch panel and a 3 gang fused switch panel with battery condition indicator and cigar lighter socket. Mast Spars and Rigging The Westerly Centaur is rigged as a Masthead Bermudan Sloop and has a Gold Anodized Mast and Boom and is fitted with a Rotostay Roller Furling System, In addition there is a whisker /spinnaker pole. All standing rigging is in stainless steel whilst running rigging is a mixture of Multi Plait and 3 strand ropes. Sails
Accommodation Skari is the popular B layout version of this model and offers 6 Berths in two cabins including the saloon The forward cabin offers two single berths or one double with the aid of an infill section with stowage under. Coming aft is the toilet compartment with sea toilet to port with hanging locker to starboard dividing doors to saloon and forward cabin. The spacious saloon offers an inline galley to starboard fitted with a Plastimo 2 burner gas hob with grill, and sink with cold water feed and stowage below. To Port is a Large L shaped settee with a cool box and additional stowage behind and under the seat cushions. By using the dinette table offers a further double berth and in addition there are two further single quarter berths. Headroom is offered at 6+ max. Upholstery is in a green berber affect material all in very good condition, joinery is Sapeli and the white vinyl head linings again is all in very good condition through out. Comments With over 2500 boats built Westerly really got it right with this model in that Laurent Giles designed a spacious, safe, family orientated craft.
